Hello!
Hey!
I'm 22/f/can looking at doing an RTW starting in early 2012 (funds dependent!), but it sounds like our trips might overlap. I'm hoping to start in SA w a volunteer placement, then working my way up the SP rim over to Europe. I'd love to hear more about your plans!
Hey!
Its nice to see a response haha My plans at the moment are pretty vague, I would be looking to start in june of 2012 and go for 5 months or as long as my funds last.....which if I plan properly will be about that much time All I know at this point is there are certain places that are definite and the rest im pretty much up for going anywhere. I would go this summer but im leaving for France and England for a month. I would be interested to go to Australia and New Zealand for a bit as well. My main focus will be Asia (China, Japan, Thailand, India, Cambodia etc) and Europe (Germany, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Austria etc) im not exactly sure where I would start, as I was hoping to find someone to plan it with.
If this still interests you let me know!
It does, although I can't really guarantee anything at this point as it will depend on savings. I'm planning on leaving around Jan/Feb of 2012 with a volunteer placement(depending on dates/cost as they aren't released yet for next year with alot of organizations) in SA for anywhere between a month and 3 months - want to catch rio de janiero - and then travel a bit depending on what i've already seen there.
Afterwards I'm hoping to head over to NZ/OZ but I have to check flight routes as I have heard that it's cheaper to go through Europe (from Brazil to Portugal/Spain?) in which case I may go that way...anyway, I don't want to spend too much time in Europe, although the eastern and northern regions are intriguing.
I'm not really going with any set return date, and I'll just be winging it most of the time with a few key "musts" thrown in. I have no problems working along the way, whether as an intern in a professional field or fruit picker, or anything in between, so I'm not sure if this meshes with your style of travel. Have you ever traveled before? Are you planning on getting all your flights before you go or? Do you plan on working along the way?
You'll have a blast in France and England this summer! If you get a chance, be sure to slip up to Scotland as well, it's absolutely beautiful. Oh, and take a hike through the vineyards to a smaller town/village - you can buy wine right from the cellars and it is way better than in the "tourist" shops you'll see in the bigger centres. Plus who can complain about hiking through vineyards tipsy? lol
