Barbados is not as cheap as it should be but if you are careful you will not spend a mint on things.
Butterfly Beach Hotel is a good hotel in a good area, fairly centrally located along the south coast. You are right on the south coast bus route which is a good thing if you don't want to take taxi's everywhere. There are lots to see and do, from historical to entertainment. have a look at www.visitbarbados.com to get an idea of what to expect.
