Hi! I am driving from Medellin, Colombia on the 27th of March and will be arriving in Buenos Aires, Argentina on the 3rd of April. It is a quick trip and I could use another driver. I have room for up to 3 people and would negotiate a very low price.
Have you ever driven that route before?
Cheers,
Terry
I drove from Colorado to Medellin but no, I haven't done this route yet. I am quite confident in my capacity for the roads and the border crossings... Are you interested?
No, not interested in the slightest. Trying to average between 800 km - 1,000 km day in South America is completely insane for my style of travel/driving - and I've done the Pan Amercian Highway twice (once both ways) so I'm not new to this.
By the way, my daily kilometre guesstimate is just that, a wild guess. I'm thinking you're around 7,000 km or so for that drive and only 8 days maximum to do it.
Can I assume you've worked out your route and my guesstimate is way off?
Cheers,
Terry
No, you're right. I am not really "new" to this either. Count the borders and note the conditions from Colorado to Colombia and you might figure I know what is entailed. I appreciate your post however and your vast experience. Perhaps if you were a rushed Argentine that needed a slight miracle, you might jump in the van... really not looking for a luxury cruiser, but one who needs to get from a to b.
Cheers
Humping 'round the Darien Gap aside, driving from Colorado to Colombia is a cakewalk compared to Medellin to Buenos Aires.
Totally and easily doable though, it's just your time frame that's the bastard.
And I think a rushed Argentinian would simply hop on a $700 flight and be home the same day. I kinda doubt a weeks worth of fuel, hotels, meals, etc. will be much of a savings, especially considering what being stuck in a car for 12+ hours/day is worth to someone...
Good luck and have fun.
Cheers,
Terry
Well again, you're right amigo. However some travelers are strapped for cash and 700's a little steep. Again, the drive is insane and it's a thing I have to do. The drive shared is what I'm asking plus a few tanks of gas to whomever might jump on board. I only hope this posting reaches a person that wants to drive and needs to get to BA... Far from ideal for me or anyone else, it's clearly a quick trip that I wish I had more time for... Thanks for the well wishes...
