Im just about to start my 3month farming work in Australia and i am debating weather to head to bali for Christmas.. Any backpackers looking on doing the same? or have done it before?
Bali is a dump and a tourist trap. Thailand is a lot better, if within your reach.
If you are looking for more of a "religious experience" go to the Philippines.
If you want to have fun, party a lot, have decent hotels in all price ranges and good transportation - go to Thailand.
All three of these countries will have tours, museums, cultural type things to see, etc.
The trouble with Bali is that it was too commercialised 25 years ago and has only gotten worse since then.

Can I ask you where in Australia you will be working? And how did you get your job? I'm going to Australia in october and will also so farmingwork, but I have no idea what city is the best to get a job?
