South East Asia

sinhasiha has indicated that this thread is about Malaysia

Hi sinhasiha,

Each country in SEA has its own beauty:

Laos and Cambodia are famous for temples but not much of sightseeings.

Malaysia is good for these activities: Beach (Redang, Tioman, Langkawi, Sabah & Sarawak), rain forest (Taman Negara), temples (Pulau Penang) etc..

Vietnam and Thailand are quite similar and they also have all these attractions.

Let me know if you have any questions

Hi Sinhasiha

You may cover most of it in Malaysia.
Rain forest & rivers - National Park Pahang
Temples - Kuala Lumpur City (KL) at China Town area via foot/Light Rail Transit (LRT)
1. Sin Sze Yea Temple ( Taoist, KL City one of the oldest)
2. Sri Mariammam (Hindu, 3 mins walk from SinszeYea)
3. Pasar Seni (Central Market - Art crafts & souvenir)
4. Masjid Jamek (Mosque with Boorish design, by Arthur Benison Hubback) + Independence Square & Hight Court ( 2mins on foot).
5. Batu Caves (Hindu, 13km North of KL via KTM rail, KTM Station 5 mins walk from Pasar Seni)

Penang Island 4 hours coach bus from KL or 45 mins flight
1. Kek Lok Si ( Buddhist)
2. Snake Temple
3. Penang Hill
4. Beaches - Ferrighi/ Tanjung Bunga
5. Langkawi Island (2.5 hrs Speed Boat/ 35 mins flight)

The above in West Malaysia. While Sabah & Sarawak in East Malaysia. Redang & Tioman is closed every Mid/end Sept - Feb due to monsoon.

I'd definitely recommend Malaysia - there's so many naturally beautiful locations and it's my personal favourite country.

Taman Negara (North Mainland): a large rainforest that is set up well for tourism, but doesn't feel like it. Best way to get there is down the river
Cameron Highlands (North Mainland): an extensive area of tea plantations with good scenery and hiking options. Cooler temperatures too
Pulau Tioman (East Coast): a very attractive island with some really nice hiking through the centre
Gunung Mulu National Park (Sarawak, Borneo): home to the 2nd largest cave passage in the world, only accessible by daily planes; very remote but in a good way
Bako National Park (Sarawak, Borneo): close to Kuching, has some beautiful and diverse scenery. Only accessible by a nice boat ride and it's really easy to spot Proboscis Monkeys
Semenggoh Reserve (Sarawak, Borneo): also close to Kuching; a reserve made for Orangutans to live in the wild - guaranteed to spot some
Mount Kinabalu (Sabah, Borneo) : the highest point in SE Asia, some incredible views from the top.

You can easily spend 4 weeks just in Malaysia, I would either extent your trip to include other places or save them for another time. They're all really nice countries and worth spending extended time in each.
O.J.

For Cambodia (No 1-4,can be done in one day. Personally I would suggest to take a 3-Days Pass if you like temples & structures. No. 5-7 another 2-3 days)
1.Angkor Wat - Watch the sunrise at this temple.

2. Bayon – for the stone smiling faces

3. Ta Prohm – Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie movie set & the tree with twisted root that sits over the ruins.

4. Preah Khan – Like Ta Prohm with blocks of stone lie in piles.

5. Banteay Srei – The red sandstone caeved temple and is one of the most beautiful temples to visit.

6. Flooded Forest - The forest is flooded during raining season, take a small boat ride to enjoy the beauty.

7. River on 1000 Lingas
Bout 2 hrs from SR, worth to see the temple and craft stone of Hindu gods, frog, crocodiles alike that emerge from the riverbef/ water falls.

Kenyir lake, crystal mosque and great monument in Wan Man PUlau.Perhentian and Redang island..all in terengganu, one of states in malaysia
