New Zealand Travel Buddy wanted or advice on traveling solo

hi guys!
So i'm interested in planing a trip to (South Island) New Zealand in October 2015 (or anytime really, i'm flexible if someone is looking to join me on this adventure.) I have never been to NZ or traveled alone. I'm looking for any advice on traveling cheaply but being able to see as much as I can in the month I plan on staying. Currently, I'm considering doing two 3-4 day hikes at the start and finish of my trip but working WWOOF for two weeks in between. Any hikes you would recommend? WWOOF experiences? Do I need a work visa to do WWOOF?

I'm going in July Sammie, I'm headin christchurch way, have you applied for ye workin visa? Through the NZ immigration website?

I'm heading to christchurch for a year, South Island , if it comforts you, I'm doing it all by myself aswell haha ✌️

I will be travelling but, I will also be working there for a year, I don't think you need a visa to travel for a few months , but I'm not sure on that one

I've not done the multi day hikes but I've done some day sections of some of them. They mostly seem fairly easy terrain on prepared paths with the challenge being the day-on-day walking.

The Milford Track has a reputation for being the nicest but I also suggest you look at the Routeburn as that was the best scenery I saw.

If you want some variety the other area that seems the most impressive is Tongariro. The Mount Aspiring bit of Fiordland was wow too.

Having just done a couple of days walking in the Nelson Lakes I'd say it was nice but not wow; same for the Catlins.

Hi Guys,

Currently living in Melbourne but I'll be looking at around a 3 week travelling/Holiday adventure!

Not sure if you have anything booked at the moment but I'd love to tag along with you guys for a while if this matches what you are wanting to do?

Looking around May/June time I think

Hi.

Looks like that is not not a Work visa you need but a Working Holiday Visa Which is confusing to me but the last sentence seems to clarify it.

However - seems to say that it can be valid for up to a year but that you can only ever have one lifetime WHV.

So - if you ever consider going to NZ again, your two weeks WWOOF would have used up your entitlement to another WHV . Your call of course, but I think you might like to go back.I know I would.
