Unable to edit maps

When I choose any of my maps, the map appears but the list does not so I am unable to edit it. Maybe I have inadvertently changed a setting or perhaps it's an intended change.

Hey Steve,

That sounds rather strange. Your list of trips is showing for me (not editable of course), so it seems like there's a specific bug for your trips when you're logged in.

If you try in the Planner view, are you able to edit them in there?

Peter

For anyone who has a similar problem, Peter & I had a conversation through TP Messages.

Here it is without the private bits......

Hi Peter,

Using planner I get "loading map data, please wait', After three minutes, no map so I click one on the list & get the list which seems to be editable, but no map.

Going back to the Maps I still am unable to edit.

You can play with my view if you want. The Pass word is ?????
Hope you are keeping well.

Steve

Hi Steve,

What browser are you using? I just tested loading up the trips while logged into your account and it worked fine. I'm on Chrome

Feel free to email me at ?????

Cheers,
Peter

Hi I use Safari 5.1.10 on an Apple Mac book pro using Mac OS X 10.6.8

Steve

Hey Steve,

I’ve had a look in Safari on my Mac and it works ok there too. This is version 8.0.2 though, so I guess it’s come some way.

The message you mentioned : "loading map data, please wait’ exists only in the Map View. I guess you clicked on that link when you were in the Planner. The planner view doesn’t include a map, it’s just the list of stops. I’m curious to know if editing any of those steps in there works for you.

I also wonder if something is cached in your browser causing this issue in the maps view. Maybe clearing the Travellerspoint cookies would help.

Cheers,
Peter

I cleared TP Cookies - nothing changed,
I cleared Cache - nothing changed.
I downloaded Chrome & it works perfectly there.

Re the above ' The planner view doesn’t include a map, it’s just the list of stops. I’m curious to know if editing any of those steps in there works for you.'

On the planner I had indeed clicked the tab = 'Map view' & Safari took me to the global map which never loads but does have a list. When I click an item on the list I get the editable stops but no map ( the opposite of going into the maps directly.)
Using Chrome everything works properly.

I was able to edit planner stops using both safari & Chrome.

(Strangely - on the map for 2015 MINERVA - HONG KONG TO SINGAPORE, when I changed the stop between Manila & Sandakan to Bohol, Philippines, the first time I Updated it only said Philippines. When I did it again, Bohol was added. Bizarre!)

So - I guess something has changed somewhere that precludes my editing the map list using Safari 5.1.0. Coincidentally, I was at Apple Genius bar last week and asked about updating to a later version of Safari & was told I have the most up to date version for my operating system.
I prefer the look of my Safari to Chrome so will continue to use it & only switch to Chrome to edit the maps. if ever.

Steve

Hey Steve,

The latest OS X is version 10.10 - so whoever told you that at the Genius bar was either seriously uninformed or just not paying attention. The upgrade from 10.6 all the way to 10.10 is quite involved though. I'm not sure if I'd bother considering the amount of things that breaks when you do that. It could be that you can't upgrade to a newer version of Safari on 10.6.

If you want to get to the bottom of this, there is some sleuthing you could do.

1. In Safari Preferences > Advanced, turn on "Show Develop menu in menu bar"
2. Open Develop > Show Error Console.
3. Load the map and see what shows. Some errors might be acceptable, but if there's one that's specific to your browser it will show up there. Copy and paste whatever shows in the console into an email and send it on over to me by email.
