My computer was stolen at a bus terminal in Santiago about 2 hours before getting on a bus to Iquique.
The security guards were called and basically told me that nothing could be done and my computer is gone. I asked them to call the police so I could know more about what to do. They were reluctant to call the police and just told me that the police would tell me the same thing they told me. But apparently they did call the police to come to the station. But they never did come and I had to catch my bus up north.
So anyways, now I am in Bolivia and I need the police report from Santiago to make a claim with my insurance.
Does anyone know how I can go about doing this?? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
Wow, good luck with that. If I was a betting man I'd give your chances at slim to zero to get any paperwork at this point and slim just left town. The only chance for you would have been to skip your bus and get this straightened out before you departed.
Good luck, but I can't imagine how you can expect the Santiago cops to generate a police report when you're not even in the country. Do you have the names/identification of all the security guards? Lastly, do you speak decent Spanish?
