No camping tips from me alas, but something to keep in mind: Schoolies are on from late November to mid December. In case you're unfamiliar with the Schoolies, this is the time of the year during which insane numbers of just-graduated highschool students descend on the gold coast (and to a lesser degree on various other parts of the east coast; e.g. byron bay, sunshine coast, airlie beach, ...) and party their heads off. I imagine it's great fun when you're 18, but for everyone else I'd recommend making a big detour.
