As soon as you crossed the Thai border your visa was cancelled. You will get the free 15 day visa waiver when you cross back into Tland. You could do that today or months from now.
I suggest you do as planned. Cross back into Tland, fly to HAN. I flew this route years ago and it was around $75 one way. I encourage you to use the VN visa on arrival system. Cheaper and easier than buying a VN visa in Tland. covers my flight into SGN 2 years ago. Once in HAN, I suggest you use the
bus system to travel down to HCMC. Much cheaper and more convenient than using the train system. Or train for some legs, bus for others. is safer, bus is cheaper. Your choice.
I took the bus from . Easy trip now that the roads are better. You can get your Cambo visa on the bus. If you want to stay more than 15 days in Tland, I would get over to the Thai Embassy in PP and see about a tourist visa. That would give you another 60 days in Tland. up to Siem Reap. I suggest the for Angkor. 1 is not enough, 6 days are too many. Overland back to Tland via Poipet. is the best website for all things Cambodia.

I was also glad to ready your blog and see I went with the same company as you for your Visa on arrival at Vietnam.. I had heard some stories of scams on that one but its made me feel alot better about it :-)
