Hi Does anyone know how full up the hostiles or cheap places to stay are around Christmas down the east coast and Sydney. Is it just Sydney that gets packed out around that time and if so how long after does it start to free up? just im planning to leave on a 1yr working visa November time and wasn't sure where to start or how much in advance i may have to book for a place to stay. Any Advice welcome thanks.
Sydney is crazy over Christmas and New Years and accomodation and hostels are usually booked up way in advance.
If you're already staying there...be prepared for a huge hike in rates over Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. We stayed in a mid-range hotel and the price jumped about $150 just because of the date.
Hostels are cheaper obviously but I'd strongly advise booking your Sydney accomodation for this time sooner rather than later.
