Travel Advice Needed!

I'm going to be working at a summer camp in Connecticut this summer with Camp America and have some time to travel afterwards. I finish camp on the 13th August and don't need to be home until the 15th September.

I think going from bus will be more cheap and best as u have to halt at many places..

Okay let's group everything together...

NYC/Niagra Falls ... you could add Canada as well, why not cross the dam? And Toronto is 2 hours or so by car from Niagra. You could also get a bus.

San Deigo/LA/Las Vegas/Grand Canyon .. This I would say would easily eat up most of your time. 5 days in each place would be overly sufficient. But there is so much too see that you could also, easily spend all of your time in LA or the Grand Canyon.

San Fran is about 8 hours by car from LA .. but there are regional flights running daily to and from, I don't think you should pay more than $200 for a round trip flight to/from SF/LA. That even seems a bit high. Cross country flights from LA/Miami run about $400-$600 depending on the seasons.

Then Miami is in its own category. Flights from NY, round trip, are usually $200-$350, so that is what makes me think $200 to SF is a bit high.

So .. if you are camping in New England... I would hit NY/Niagra first, but that seems to be about a 5-7 days if you travel by bus. Then I would, if it were me, find a flight from NY to LA that would be the cheapest and fastest way to get to the west. Then I would give about 10-14 day in the San Deigo/LA/Las Vegas/Grand Canyon area. So already you are at 3 weeks. Travel by bus when you get there. I would either go back to LA or try to find a one way flight from Las Vegas to get to San Fran... I would say 3-4 days in the city. A one way to Miami .. (but here now the OW tickets could be more expensive than RT especially cross country) for the rest of the time and then a OW back to NY before you head home.

I think for what you would like to see, you have enough time, but if you could limit the places you visit, then you 1. won't be rushing and 2. could save yourself some $$$. In fact I would knock of Miami .. just because it's a loner and it a category all by itself. If you want the beach, San Deigo is very nice, although the water is much colder than Miami... And also, it seems to me that it might even be cheaper because South Beach is a real pain to get to (from the airport), you have to take taxis most everywhere in Miami, because busses are not efficient, and you will see some really dirty sleeze bags on the bus, which undoubtedly probably smells too.

I do have a bias against Miami as I'm from Ft. Lauderdale.
