Hey I am struggling majorly with plans I go on a hundred different websites a day, but it's hard knowing what ones to trust. I am planning on moving over to Australia in July as a backpacker obviously as I don't have any job that can get me in to the country. I want to be there for 6months to a year but also want to see New Zealand, Thialand maybe Figi and LA etc. It's something I've always wanted to do but its a scary thing myself. I'm not shy so shouldn't ahve to much of a problem meeting people or getting help when I'm lost but I'm soo stuck on where to start is anyone else in either the same boat, or done it already and knows the best way to plan the trip where to go first? how long to go to each place for? how much money? and if its easy getting a job? etc.

Hi claire, i feel the same. Iv wanted to do it for years but not had the courage to do it,now 24 thought be a good time to get away. I was thinking to go to the same places as you. Im a sociable person to. Im unsure of some websites and not sure if there genuine. Im thinking to book flight and insurance with sta travel as it takes the pressure of me, maybe a bit more exspensive.
I think the working visa is for 18-31s and they want you to have 5000 australian dollars in your bank, it works at around £3100-3300 at the moment depending on currency conversion.
Im scared to do it alone to. I was thinking to start in sydney or melbourne but unsure. Ive not booked anything yet. I believe it is best to book flights 3 months before departure.

Yeh I look at STA it looks the cheapest so far I think so it would prob be easier goin through them to help me plan I jus didn't wanna end up payin loads of money to someone before I actually got there so when u thinkin of goin? Starting in sydney or melbourne sounds gd

I was going next nov but cant wait and not enjoying work,where am staying, deciding to go first week of march. When you thinking of going? Im not sure where to travel from, i live in east coast scotland, but happy to fly from heathrow if cheaper. Are u thinking of round the world and get a few stops included? ie thailand ect?. So much to think about, mite aswell make the most of the experience.

Yeh thats fine if I work out how to accept a friend on this haha! yeh I'm the same seems to be dearer from Scotland, so am happy to fly from london or somewhere in england. Yeh defo want Thailand and New Zealand but al need to work out there so probly work in Sydney or wherever is the best to get work.

hey, how long u wanting to go for? i will be coming home for nov 2012, then prob head back. and when u wanting to go again? Ill need to work too as the savings aren't as good as i want lol. Im looking at flights daily, so can't wait. We should keep in touch, maybe see u at airport lol. Am happy to have a travel buddy so let me know if ur up for that? totally not sure about seeing thailand alone but want to make the most of it.
I def want to do the 3 months fruit picking and can get contact details for a place my sister knows, as shes out there. Also ill do any work as il have no option. Heard that ul need about 60plus dollars a day. There is a website for jobs( travelers at work) and you can sign up but its pricey, not sure to join, mite wait til i get there.

I'm in the same boat look at flights every day if ur going in July like me its cheaper cuz its winter over thier I've been looking for open return flights but can't find them because I was told u have to have a return ticket don't know how true that is I also want to go to ms and Thailand my mate and his girlfriend came back beginning of the year and said Thailand was the best place they went
Hey adam, july will be cheaper. il be going in march away to apply for visa so no going back now. U planning a year away? am hoping to apply for second year visa extension if i like it. Heard that thailand is a must see indeed

Im going for as long as I can may get my second year or just move on to sum where else's just going to go with the flow and see what happens defo to go to Thailand look beautiful
