Looking forward, but feeling a bit cautious!

Hey! I am flying into Bangkok on the 17th of Febuary and im travelling alone, I plan to spend 3 and a half months in SE Asia. At the minute i only have a weeks accommodation booked in Bangkok and i am hoping to meet people and go on from there. I dont know if by having no plans what so ever is a good thing or could end up being a bad thing. Will it be hard to find people to join on a journey with? I am good at meeting new people and quite adventurous so im up for going pretty much anywhere! Is there anyone else travelling alone or in groups about this time got the same kind of plan?

Mick,
You do not state your age on your profile, but I will assume you are under 30. Once you get over to Khao San Road, you will be meeting young people everyday. Just be open with your plans and you will not be alone for long. Plenty of backpackers are doing the same thing: bumping around SEA on a budget. I am sure you will meet others that are going to: Samui, Phangan, Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Nong Khai, etc and will be happy for you to join their group.

Once you are done with Thailand, you might head overland to Cambodia. You will now have another group to hang with. Spending hours on a bus/boat/train tend to bring people together in a shared experience. They will also be heading out sightseeing the next day, so you have that in common. I would not stress that you will be alone for long while in SEA. Here is a for Cambodia and the overland route. Good luck to you.

Thanks a lot mate, took a big weight off my shoulders! yes good guess im only 22. I have read on a few fourums and some post say that because i havnt pre booked anything i will end up spending more on accomodation but other people disagree saying what i am doing is the best way to travel and i wont struggle finding good bugdet hostels, what do you think mike?
