Anyone planning the Bangkok to Siem Reap trip during the first weeks of June 2010? I am and I would love to find some travel companions for this exciting journey. If you are up for it, please let me know so that we can figure out something. I am a 22 year old male student and I am pretty laid back and outgoing. If you want to exchange e-mail addresses or msn or skype or yahoo ids so that we can talk further, just let me know
Hi Bakpakk,
I'm going to Thailand too! I'm hoping to fly about 25th June and staying for 2 months or so.
I've also been thinking about doing some voluntary work and I've just had a look at Isara that you mentioned and they look really good and proffessional! and don't even charge you like £1000! I think it would be good to do this for 2-3weeks maybe? And then I'm still deciding where to go next but thinking maybe to Phuket and down through Malaysia to Singapore and go to see some orangutans in Borneo.
Hope to talk soon!

Hey Kate1990,
yeah, Isara is very professional and the people incharge are laid back and easy to talk to. As you said, it is not ridiculously expensive like a lot of these volunteer organizations which exist today. If you want to volunteer for a couple of weeks, I highly recommend Isara. In order to secure free lodging with Isara while volunteering, I would advice you to apply as soon as possible. That way, you can secure a room before all rooms get occupied. They have an online application which is simple and quick; no additional documents or anything are required. I was told that they also have very affordable guesthouses around the area so you can also do the guesthouse option. I plan on going to Isara sometime around the mid of June. It will be my first time in Thailand and I am really excited. Isara is also like 5 minutes away from the Laos-Thai border so if you volunteer for a few weeks, you can use that opportunity to visit Laos.
Your plans sound exciting. I hope to make it down to Singapore too. I have a friend from school who lives there now.
I'll be in Isara towards the end of June till the end of July so let me know how your plans go.
Best regards
