Seeking advice from people who have experienced Xmas & NYE in Mexico.
I have spent Christmas previously in Acapulco and that was fabulous. This is actually the "high season" for Acapulco as well as for Puerto Vallarta and Puerto Escondido and Ixtapa/Mazanillo. This is not the high season for Cancun--which tends to get tropical storms in the November/December timeframe.
When you get to the late spring early summer months, the situations reverse. Then you are better off in Cancun as Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta get a bit muggy and get some tropical storms themselves (In fact they had a major one just a week ago).
