Hi All,
I am 25 male from the UK and planning on going travelling alone in about one year from now 'roughly '
I would possible have around £7,000 in total is that enough? Places i am thinking off are Newzeland,
Australia, Thailand, America, and possible a few more on the way depending on money. I have no specific dates to
Return to the U.K. It will be my 1st time travelling so unsure of how to plan it. Would I need vaccinations ? Visas ?
Sufficient money in my bank for entering certain countries? Basically am looking for best ideas on how to plan
My trip the best and to see the best sites and have the best time.
America, Australia and New Zealand are quite expensive. Thailand is quite cheap.
You can book a Round The World ticket which means you stop off at what countries you want, you can do overland sections, arrive in one country and leave from another, and even have open dates. But you must travel in one direction. You can book side flights separately.
Daily Mail for Saturday and Sunday have travel sections with RTW flights ads in them. Shop around.
You will need to get a visa for Australia. America and NZ should be no trouble. Thailand you get 30 days visa free on arrival, and if you take a flight out of the country (with a budget airline like AirAsia) and back, you get another 30 days (includes day or arrival and leaving). And even another if you want it.
Weather in Thailand is often wet from now till end of October, even to the point of flooding. Best to go November to April when for not much money you can stay there for a few months and enjoy the sun, all day, sometimes every day.
All places have good local transport, though a car can come in handy for out of the way places so take a driving licence along in case you decide to hire a car.
I would go America, then Down Under and catch Thailand on the way back, early 2014.
Accommodation, try hostelbookers, hostelworld, travellerspoint and the like. Despite the name hostel, they have some reasonably priced hotel rooms.
Book fairly early. I'm off in December and have my flight and room already booked.
Some ideas on how to carry money while away:

When you have more idea of what you want, ask some more questions.
Make sure you have at least a year left on your passport when you arrive at your last destination (ie: Expires 2015 or later).

Im a first time traveller too but looks like your jumping right into the deep end! If you where doinging one after the other i would suggest prehaps getting a working visa in australia to build up the pennys for when you are there to help you along Im very excited for you and i hope you have the best of times travelling!
Cyberia - how much does a round the world train ticket usually cost?
Thanks, Amanda
