theres now lik 4 other guys and another girl with us! i really wish we were in a smaller group though im sure you've made loadsa friends! well would you be around for the july full moon party? yeah we're all very laid back but would like to know someone who's an idea of where to go! hows it been for you so far? are you going anywhere after thailand?
hello,
i'm Darren,
28 and from Manchester. Me and my best friend Tom will be arriving in Bangkok on the 1/7/12. we are looking to stay in Thailand for around a month. we are both terrible for planning. All we know for sure. is we want to see as much as we can. and have as much fun as possible.
We did 2 months in North America last year, it was AMAZING! now that was an english speaking country. the only thing that scares me a little. is the language barrier. i wish i would have tried to learn a few phrases, but being a typical bloke, and british, we sort of assume everybody wil speak english!!!
Anyways, we are nice guys, and we're on a mission to try and meet as many of the 7 billion people on this planet, as we possibly can! So anybody that fancies meeting for a an hour, day, week or more. then feel free to do so. really not bothered if your male or female. young or old or black or white. we just love to laugh. and its served me well in my life so far.
Hey Darren!
Most books and stuff say that many of the thai people speak english but obviously its nice, respectful and easier if you know a few basic phrases before ya go so you shouldn't worry! If you're there for a month you should definitely try make the July full moon party in the southern islands of ko phangan. you can organise trains/boats from most hostels etc in bangkok on the ko san road! The July fmp is 3rd and to be honest most people say the nights before the full moon are great so could be worthwhile looking into that! are you interested in going to veitnam? apparantly it's coast is amazing!
hi rosie. thanks for reply.
to be honest we havent really looked at vietnam. but once we are there we will be open to anything. our plan (if u can call it that) we get into bkk on the 1st. we was gunna do a few days there. then get a boat or taxi down to pattaya for a week or so. then we was gunna get a flight down to krabi and stay in the southern islands for a few weeks. then finally get a flight to bali for a week. but as u av just told me the fmp is on the 3rd. we may as well just scrap that plan. cos i aint missing that. ive just seen some pics and videos! WOW! get me there now! unbelievable! i was in New york for the 4th of july last year and really thought i would never top that! i may be proven wrong! even tho its the 3rd of july i'm sure i will be able to make it last till the 4th! ha
so are u going as a group of students? theres only 2 of us. wont stop us having a ball tho. i'm just a bit un sure about accomadation. you guys looking at hostels or 5 star hotels? i take it u havent aready booked?
yeah i think going to thailand and missing the full moon party is a bit silly! never again will you get so many shots of alcohol in a bucket for so cheap while being painted neon on a beach! ha. most people say bangkok is a 1/2 night job but then again you might like it better but ive just heard different people say that! although i think bangkok and northern thailand is alot cheaper for the south but then again the beaches are amazing there! yeah we've nothing set in stone, although if you wanted to look into it more you should defo buy the lonely planet book SE asia on a shoestring. its like a bible apparantly, ive got it but im too lazy to read but atleast to have it with you atleast you can check out the main things to do everywhere.
we're gonna be very laid back i think. taking it day by day to see what sorta mood we're in. we've booked our 1st 2 nights in bangkok, loadsa people have recommended a hostel called D and Ds on Koh san road but unfortunately for our dates it was fully booked. then we've booked our accomodation for the full moon party but everything else is a mystery. we're gonna try travel/get trains to people overnight so we will save on accomodation. i'd say we will mostly be going to average hostels but i defo wanna spend lik 3/4 nights somewhere in a 5 star place just for the experience!
well i will definatly be there, probably wont ever do it again. so its a must! ive just tried looking at villas on the actual beach for the fmp. if i can get 1 i will be doing. to be honest we,ve really over looked the hostels. not because i'm rich, stuck up, idiot. its purely because of the price. u can get a 5 star private villa on the beach for peanuts. well maybe not peanuts. but u get my point. and the internal flights are very cheap too. like £40. thats the only reason. are regards the bucket of alcohol fill shots! u cant have been to manchester thats just a typical wkend! without the beach of course! ha
Yeah we're staying on a part of the beach about 10 minutes walk away from where the parties are and its 10 dollars a nice! really lovely beach huts etc and a few of my friends have stayed there before! the biggest advantage of hostels though is that you'll meet loadsa other people doing the same thing, get knowing them more but obviously theres time for that any part of the day! yeah we're going to fly from thailand to veitnam! but i think thats it cause some of the people im going with have max £20 a day! yeah i know the place well i go to university in liverpool, alcohol is extremely cheap ha
