Thailand, Malaysia, Bali etc Nov/Dec '12

Hey,

Asia is very easy to get around, as long as you have visas where necessary.

Buses, trains, planes are often options, including budget airlines. Lots of accommodation too (try hostelbookers, asiarooms).

Really you should decide what you want in the next few months and book travel and rooms. December is the start of the high season.

My trouble with booking places is that y going on my own I want to meet people and will end up going on with them... If I book places I won't be able to stay with the people I've met.

But thank you very much for your advice, I will have to come up with a solution!

Hey! You must be getting ready to go now to Thailand/Malaysia. I always go to these countries in Nov/Dec. The weather is beautiful and it is actually vacation for the students during that time, so be prepared for crowded malls and transportation. Just for Malaysia/Singapore that is. If you go to KL, try to stay in Bukit Bintang or Chinatown. Chinatown has the cheapest hotels, but don't expect much. Sunway Lagoon is great if you want to try a huge waterpark. Have a great trip!

The traditional advice is that the best time to visit is during the cool season from November-February. Statistically, these months tend to have the most hours of sunshine and the least likelihood of rain. Humidity is also lower at this time of year than at other times. Because of the good weather and the fact that it corresponds with winter in the West, these months form the tourist high season. Flights to Thailand are often more expensive at this time (particularly December and the Christmas period) and rates for accommodation tend to be higher, particularly on the islands and resorts. Tourist attractions like the Grand Palace and the Floating Market can also be busier in these months. Have a joyful and fun filled trip.

You must be in indochina now? I am heading to SEA in a few weeks. My plan is to pretty much wing it at first. The Borneo trip sounds amazing! I am flying into either Bangkok or Singapore with a friend around the 1st of Nov. and then heading off from 1 of those places to wherever we want. My friend then too has to go home and I was planning on setting up shop in a cool town, maybe in Hoi An or Dalat (or maybe somewhere else), renting an apartment as I am planning on finding work doing some writing for various English newspapers and that way I can have a home base to work from while hitting the road. I could be there for up to 6 months, maybe longer. Anyway, would be cool to meet some people while roaming around that part of the world.... I have been to Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia before and they are all amazing! Stay in touch, maybe we'll bump into each other! Where are you from? Colorado here...
