I am currently planning a backpacking experience from England to Australia /New Zealand to be completed durning 2014. During the Asian leg I am looking to travel on either the Silk Road ( Istanbul to Beijing) or the Trans Mongolian ( Moscow to Beijing) routes. Ideally I want to complete this leg independent of travel companies to enable flexibility and to make the most of the experience without being restricted to particular times.

what route you are adopting ? is it through the central asian states ! the classical setting and passing into china through kashgar !
In Moscow to Beijing:
Is Mongolia included, if yes how much of it ?
do share your itinerary.. will be interesting
