Hey guys,
If you are staying that long, do an internet search on flatshare in Auckland. While some are very expensive, there are cheap ones too. Look for a place with good public transport links.
Also try googling Bond Street Lodge. I was in Auckland for three months and stayed there. You get your own room but share a living room and kitchen and a bathroom. It is kind of halfway between a hostel and a flat! But fairly reasonably priced.
