I would appreciate some advice about driving down to Bolivia. Anyone care to share their experiences? Anyone interested in the adventure?
Do you have a plan for getting past the Darien Gap? From Panama to Colombia there is no usable road.
I gather this gap in the pan American highway is due to two reasons - rough men with guns, and environmentalists fighting roadbuilding go the grounds of both damage to local ecosystems and a connected route allowing disease to spread between the continents.
you aint doin it, no road.
Maybe there ain't no road… But you can put the car on a boat. Here is a site that should help!

yes that's true, oceans often have ships on them.

I'm making it up now. From the responses, thank you for them, I'm looking into RORO and containers. Still researching where to go and routes to take.
Might skip the long drive and ship straight to Chili?
Way better than using a container is the new ferry service, http://sanblasferry.com/

Nice one, Terry!
Although it looks like it's having problems with the bureaucrats - a note on their website about tthey've done two trips but customs permits for a dock holding things up. :-(
And $2000 to carry a car! Ouch!
They're definitely having teething problems and there's a lot of drama surrounding the entire endeavour (it's a bloody soap opera) but being able to travel with your vehicle (impossible to do when shipped by container) is worth a lot - and the posted prices are negotiable, same as anything...
I wish them the best.
Cheers,
Terry
