Hi all
Oh and Parma is on the list swell
I have a friend looking at going to Italy sometime in the summer of 2015. And I'm helping her plan this trip?... I've never been out of the Continental US, so I could use all the advice I could get. Thanks
Haven't been to most of them, but will say.. make sure you give Rome at least 3 days.. and build in going to Pompeii, it's amazing. Maybe that means that Sorrento would be a good bet, 'cause then you could get to Pompeii before the crowds arrive...
Definitely don't miss out Venice and allow for a few days there if you can. From Venice, Verona is only a short train ride away and is definitely worth a day trip. I don't think Genoa has anything of particular interest to the tourist - from what I know about it it's just a big port city.

Have to keep moderating my plan with all new ideas. Thank you all, most helpful
I'd recommend: Pompeii, Venice, Rome (give yourself 3-5 days), Vatican, and the Cinque Terre for sure. Best pizza I had while there was in Bologna!
I'd second the comment about Genoa, and skip it.
Is there a particular thing you're interested in? History, art, etc.?
Good to know about the Bolgogna pizza! That's sealed it for me.
Well food really; in fact visiting Modena almost solely to fit in a trip to Osteria Francescana
Just like walking around with interesting things to see, nice landscapes, interesting buildings and what not.
Ok, my updated trip is Venice, Bolgona, Modena, Florence, Rome. And fly back to London from Rome
Thank you
