China Tour

Hello,

Hi Anon,

Because beijing is in the north of China and hongkong is in the south, so from my view, you could choose the palces by your personal interest
Route : beijing--xian--shanghai--hangzhou--xiamen--lijiang--shenzhen--Hongkong

Beijing: political centre; forbidon city; summer palace
xian: old city wall; famous snack; the terracotta warriors
shangahi: big city; prosperous and commercial city; bar and drink; fake market
hangzhou: nice&clean city; west lake; feilai peak(mountain); chinese silk
xiamen: beach city; beautiful islands; night market; sea food
lijiang: tibetan shangri-la; tiger leaping gorge; meri and yulong snow mountains; nice sunshine
shenzhen: Chinese special economic zone ; the nearest ciy face to hongkong
Hongkong

You could search above places on internet before you make your final travel route

Have a good time

Lots of travel companies do China but its a matter of comparing itineraries, prices, reviews, etc.

And if on your own, how much they are going to hit your for single supplement. China is not that hard to do on your own in the internet age and a copy of the Lonely Planet guide to China.

Hi Anon,

I'm also travelling between Beijing and Hong Kong from 19th August - 19th September and have been doing a lot of research the last few weeks. You could do a tour with GAP Adventures, Explore, Exodus or Intrepid they all look great but are very expensive compared to the costs on the ground.

Alternatively you could arrange everything yourself using Lonely Planet/Rough Guide and Hostel World/Hostel Bookers as the hostel network makes it look easy to get around the main places (Onward ticket service, tours and friendly english speaking staff etc) so it depends on your budget and whether you want everything taken care of for you or more independance and a cheaper break.

My schedule at the moment is Beijing-Xian-Chengdou-Lijing-Dali-Kunming (Yangshuo if time spare) HK as I really like the look of Yunan but I'm also toying with Beijing-Xian- Chengdou-Chongqing (for Yangzi river cruise)-Shanghai-Guilin-Yangshuo-HK

Have a great trip

Rob

Hi,

I myself did a Beijing to Hong Kong itinerary. I did it in 3 weeks, but I travelled on overnight trains quite a lot. If you have only got 2 weeks then I would suggest flying. Here are the places I would recommend that you visit during your trip (in order):

Beijing: I would certainly recommend visiting Beijing for sights such as the Great Wall, the Lama Temple, The Temple of Heavenly Peace, the Birds-Nest Stadium, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.

Xian: The main sight here is the Terracotta Army which is worth a visit - it is even more spectacular in real life and I wouldn't miss Xian out for this reason.

Chengdu: This is where you can visit the Giant Pandas, visit Le Shan Buddha (the biggest in the world) and also get a Sichuan cooking class.

Guilin/Yangshuo: Head to Guilin by train or plane to visit Yangshuo (about 2 hours away). This is the place I would NOT miss out of any China itinerary. Yangshuo is spectacular, with a stunning backdrop of Karst mountains and the highlight of a trip here is taking in the beautiful scenery on a bamboo rafting trip. Spend at least 5 days here, longer if you can!

Hong Kong: I would then finish my trip in either Hong-Kong.

I hope this helps!

Sophia
