I am travelling America for 6 weeks in July and was wondering how much money I would need to take. Travel/Accommodation has already been paid for and I plan to take around £2500-£3000 for the whole trip. Would this be enough? Thanks.
Where will you be staying? What are your likes/dislikes? What are your interests? Budget varies wildly depending on those factors...
That said, 3,000 GBP is about $5,000 USD which is almost $120 USD/day so with accommodation/travel handled that's a perfectly decent budget for most travellers. If you're a hardcore partier or want to do lots of excursions/tours/etc. then it'll be easy to blow through that dough though...
Have fun.
Cheers,
Terry

Thanks for your reply.
We will be starting in NYC (Already booked NY Pass and Subway pass) and then travelling down the East Coast (Philly, DC, Charlotte, Atlanta) to Miami. Then along the South (New Orleans, Houston, Austin) up to the West (Vegas (will be on a strict budget here!!), San Diego, San Fran) and then back to Boston. We do like a party but realize we won't be able to party every night on our budget, maybe a proper night out in a few of the cities but not all. We want to do as much sightseeing as possible so are looking into planning days before we get to cities to calculate costs. We're also going to try and book a few possible excursions before hand i.e. Grand Canyon, Baseball Games etc.
I've got more money on standby if I need it but this was just a set amount I'd like to spend.
Cheers,
Tom
Also, does anyone have any idea on car hire for a 22 year old. Looking at driving from LV to Grand Canyon and then LV to San Diego?
Thanks
