I want to make a trip to Switzerland for a week, which cities/towns are the best to visit?
Not sure how long you plan to spend in each place but here's a few ideas: I usually fly to Geneva and at the far end (eastern end) of Lake Geneva you have Vevey and Montreux which are in my opinion the nicest places in that area though Lausanne does have the Olympic Museum which is well worth a visit.
The capital Bern is pleasant to walk around being small for a capital city while nearby Interlaken has stunning views of the Bernese Alps. Another favourite lakeside location is Neuchatel in the north. I would definitely recommend Zermatt for the views of the Matterhorn - okay more a mountain village than a city but one of my own favorites though I particularly like the Alps.
Okay missed out a few there but those are the ones I'd go to in a short tour and everywhere is accessible by public transport in Switzerland so have never needed to hire a car there. Have a good trip!
