Hi David :-)
I will also be travelling in asia but will be there for only two month Aug-Sep and then will be heading to Australia on a WHV. This will be my first time travelling so am a little nervous as no idea what to expect but also very excited for the same reason.
I have been to australia twice already on holiday and fell in love with it. This time i am hoping to do similar to you meet like minded people and see as much as i can of aus as possible in the year i will have there before i head to New zealand.
I have no plans for when i get to aus as i am hoping this will leave me open to meeting people and doing stuff i wouldnt usually decide to do myslef :-) The only plans i do have is to hopefully learn to scuba dive and surf somewhere along the way and maybe get a camper van to travel around for a bit.
have been looking into couch surfing and maybe house sitting to save money and to get to see the real australia rather than just the tourist aus.

Hi David,
I have a very similiar travel plan to you. I am hoping to start in Asia later this year, covering Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, hopefully starting in october (would this be too late for you?) and then move on the Australia to travel the coast and then hope to go on to New Zealand. Would be very interested in talking more about this as I hope to stay out at least a year.
