well i can confirm you can drive cairns to sydney in three days haha, been heading down for the new job and wanted to take in the sights in sydney before i started, didn't drive fast as its the double demerit long weekend, took the inland route... carins - townsville - charters towers - roma - moree - gunnedah - muswellbrook and then onto the coast.
slept in the car and started driving at 630am, awesome drive, love the window to the west area scenery, can't wait to have a nosey round sydney tomorrow before heading west to start earning some cash on the farm

I hitched a ride with a guy in adelaide and it took 3 days to get to melbourne because we couldn't drive at night. We did one day but we almost slammed into a kangaroo the first night.
haha it was abit crazy, my eyes were going crossed eyed towards the end, no don't have a bullbar on my car, had a few close calls with roos as well, i didn't actually drive when it was dark though, started driving each day at around 630am as the sun was rising and stopped at about 5pm, no stops apart from 5 mins here and there to fuel up.... going to be nice having an easy drive into sydney and using my legs sightseeing for the day!
