Hey guys I'm moving to Melbourne in a couple of months on my own and literally have no idea what to expect! I'm looking to flat share or rent a room and get a job in the city waitressing or in a coffee shop (I currently work as a Starbucks supervisor). Any advice would be massively helpful, cheers
Hi Jade,
Welcome to Travellerspoint! As a very biased Melburnian, you'll have a fantastic time
Check out the for an overview of the city's suburbs and then look on something like flatmates.com.au in the area that you like. You can also search for shared accommodation on realestate.com.au. I would suggest looking around Fitzroy – it's cool, it's close to the city, and there's loads of cafes and restaurants there too. I also suggest checking out Richmond for the same reasons.
Good luck with your planning!
Cheers for the advice and if anyone's going those ways in November drop me a message and let me know what ya plans are, it's always good get some ideas xx

Hey. I'm planning on starting in Melbourne in December then doing one of those grey hound bus things up the east coast. What are you all planning for New Years? X

Hey!
Planning to fly out 3rd November to Perth for 3 weeks then on to Melbourne for a couple of months. Any ideas of good hostels to stay at in Melbourne?
Bryce
Hi Bryce,
Depends where you want to stay but United (CBD) always looks busy and Base (St Kilda) is popular on these forums. If you get stuck, try the accommodation link at the top of the page and look for the reviews from other TP members.
Hi All,
Been in Melbourne for 4 days and I love it! Due to start work on Monday and looking for a house share myself as hostels are waaay expensive!
I stayed in United Backpackers for 1 night and it wasn't bad for $32 a night. Very clean and nice social area!
Hit me up if this is something youd be interested in or even getting together for a drink sometime I've met a girl from Essex who is 20 and also a German girl who is 19 so we are all in the same boat and travelling alone etc
