We are Kiwi couple pottering around South America. We have just finished a great 6 months travelling through Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia on public transport and have just arrived in Santiago. The plan is to buy a used 4x4 to use for the next 5 months in Chile and Argentina.
We have read all the posts on this and other forums regarding this and now just want to get on with it. Does anybody have any additional tips for us?
Is there anybody out there at the end of their trip with a reliable vehicle to pass on?
Once we have the car we intend to head to Mendoza and then south to the Argentinian lake district camping and fly fishing. Eventually heading back up to Santiago to sell the car in early March.
After 6 months of South American buses its like starting a brand new adventure.
