My friend just pulled the pin on me. Unless I spend a heap of money to change my flights around I will be in New York alone for Christmas... eeeekkk
Im 24 and flying in from Australia. I have never travelled alone. This is my first time!
What is there to do? Is anyone else going to be there at the same time?
Do you see many people eating out at restaurants alone?

Hahaha it is all booked I booked myself into the marriott on broadway.. (under my own credit card unfortunately ) WHATEVER will I do on Christmas day in New York... Christmas Eve will be fun and exciting but Christmas day will be almost.. Not as fun. I could book a place to dine at. Will be weird being surrounded by big families... then theres me all alone. I dont mind it. I would look pretty sad to other people though

I am in a similar position im flying in from Brisbane on the 8th and will be in NYC til the 5th of Jan (then proceeding south). I'm already staying (via airbnb) in Bushwick. I'm kinda thought the same, there are really good restaurants out there but is dining as a solo person a normal thing?
I don't really have any plans but if you'd like to explore new york or the outer boroughs with another person I'd be more than happy to accompany you
I was thinking of going to the Pinstripe Bowl which is a college football game on the 27th of December at Yankee stadium and potentially a basketball game (if there is one) during that time, havent bought any tickets or anything yet though

FWIW I've dined alone in Paris and it was actually pretty fantastic. I have more of an issue solo dining at home (rather be caught dead) than I do when travelling. I don't do the book thing but it's a good chance to sit and soak up the awesomeness of your adventure with a glass of wine.
But anyway, enjoy you two! Hope you squeeze in a visit to the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and send me a pic
Book yourselves into a hostel where u will meet other solo travellers. Sometimes staying is hostels is much better than luxury because there will be a fab atmosphere xxx

I am a 19 year old Chinese girl and I am pretty excited about my solo travel! However, I still feel like it would be nice if I can hang out with someone during Christmas.

Yeah no doubt id be keen to hang out over whatever time, just let us know when and where.
Holidays in New York is the best! I was there with friends December last year, stayed in an apartment via airbnb. I'm thinking of going back to NY this Christmas. Still have nowhere to go and currently staying in Atl. Anyone can recommend a nice hostel to stay? Hotels are dully booked + expensive this season.

I booked Q4 Hotel because the rating seem to be quite high there & not so expensive.
