Hey everyone
Was wondering if anyone can recommend a good hostel in melbourne for a couple of days, Would suit to be fairly near the airport or to at least ublic transport as I need to leave early to get a flight on the last morning.
Hahaha sorry, as a frustrated Melburnian the airport is ages away.
That being said, King Street Backpackers is a 5 min walk from Southern Cross Station and you can get from there ($18, leaves every 10 min).
There are also hotels at the airport of course but depends on your budget and how big the desire to be close is... .

Thanks for replying, yeah I sort of thought that its quite far from everything, Oh well, just have to get up super early..ha
Have you stayed at King st backpackers, do you reccomend it?
Ye I wont go as far as staying near the hotel, way to expensive...ha

Haven't stayed there myself but there always seems to be a crowd when I go past. Most of the other reputable hostels are a bit more central—around Elizabeth St—but is also not very far from Southern Cross. Just note they have another one called 'Metro' that is actually in North Melbourne.

There's a cute little bar just over the road too, Bar Humbug. Also one block up Little Bourke away from the station is Patricia, one of Melbourne's hottest coffee spots at the moment, but it's standing room only.
