Hey
Where will you be in Vietnam?
If Ho Chi Minh City, go to District 1 tourist area near Ben Thanh market. Lots of accommodation, as well as eating and drinking places, change money, travel agents, mini marts and the like as well as general shops.
Accommodation: booking.com, agoda, asiarooms, hotels.com, hostelbookers, etc.
I got the bus from the airport which after some time passes the large Ben Thanh market building, then a small bus stop area with buses and then everyone gets off at the Tourist area stop.
Note. Xmas in Vietnam is just another day so it will be business as usual. Possibly a few minor celebrations in the tourist area?
Got a visa or eletter for one? You will need to have US dollars to get a visa on arrival at the airport.

Xmas is great in Vietnam - they love to decorate and the kids really love it all. I'm very picky about hotels, but these are a few wonderful places:
Saigon - Bich Duyen Hotel 2* in the $30. range (backpacker area in District 1) - a basic hotel that's super clean with the best hotel manager in Southern Vietnam!
Hanoi - Joseph's Hang Da Hotel 3* in the $40. range (western side of the Old Quarter) - best breakfast in town and owned by a Kiwi.
Hanoi - Art Boutique Hotel 3* in the $40.+ range (western side of the Old Quarter) - best hotel coffee in town and owned by Europeans. Super Service here - I'd rate it at 6*!!!
Hanoi is awesome, but a little cooler in winter.
With that budget, you can have a nice room in Vietnam. Look for the best hotel on Agoda, Booking.com or Tripadvisor.
Thanks for the info guys. I will stay in district one!
Yes I arrive in ho Minh city - the plan is to then travel from South to north. How long does one need in HMC?
Lol that's got to be a joke - go away equality now you idiot

How long in Saigon? Depends on how much you like that city - it's far too westernized for my taste, and I know that there are far more interesting places in VN to see. If you want to see more of the country, I suggest Hoi An, Dalat, Quy Nhon, Hanoi, Sapa and Mai Chau. Have a look at .
Hey
As the title states is anyone going to be in Vietnam this Xmas??
Or can recommend good hotels to stay - budget up to £40 a night. Cheaper hostels welcome too.I'm 24 male from UK, travelling solo.
Cheers
Will
If you want to travel in Vietnam from South to North, I recommend : Sai Gon, Phu Quoc, Hoi an, Hue, Hanoi, Halong. And with budget up to 40 usd a night, you can stay at 3 star hotel ( price from 40 - 80 usd/per night).
cheers.
