Looking for a great destination on dec-jan

Hello!

Which continent?

For now maybe Asia or Europe, but I'm open for all continent :P

If you like visiting cities, I would recommend Paris, London, and Rome. There is much to see and you should have some great experiences. If you prefer the countryside, the wine country of France is beautiful. Also, do not miss the Black Forest in Germany. This is only a small portion of things that you can see and do. A lot depends on your interest.

As far as safety, just use normal care and common sense as you would do in any area that you are in. For the most part, I find that people are friendly throughout the world.

To meet travel companions, you are already in the right place. There is a forum on this website called Travel Companions that you might want to check out.

Good luck in your travels.

Seems interesting, I will check that out, did you ever go to south America? I have heard Peru is a great place to visit too.😊

Hi,
Europe is not a great destination in December January unless you plan some winter activities: skiing, snowshoeing, ....

I'd rather plan southern hemisphere: Argentina, Chile or New Zealand !!! All great to see. Patagonia and NZ are safe places!

Alain is right, Europe is going to be at its coldest during December -January, so if you plan to move around the cities a lot and not pick some specific wintery activities, it might be best if you went with Asia. New Zealand and Papua New Guinea are quite fun!

Hi Beatrice I'm travelling from Heathrow to phuket in Thailand plan on staying southern thailand island hopping. I'll be there for 28 days if you fancy meeting up,wanting to do phi phi don, Krabi, phuket and koh yao

Hi Beatrice, I am surprised no one has suggested South Africa It is a great place to travel to during Dec - Jan as it is peak summer time. I have traveled throughout South Africa as a single female and have never encountered any issues, but you would have to rent a car as public transportation is rather non-existent.

Another great option is to do an overland trip with a group of fellow travelers. Not sure if you are familiar with this type of traveling? I have used -snip- before so I can recommend them and they have a load of different types of tours to choose from. It is super convenient plus you get to meet some awesome people. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try answer as best I can. Good luck!

You should cross out Papua New Guinea as an idea, particularly since it's not a place for someone who is "not an expert of solo traveling." It's even a challenging place for seasoned travelers, too. Plus, December-January is the beginning of the wet season. I'll be there in August. Many people go to Peru to visit Cuzco and perhaps hike the Inca Trail to visit Machu Picchu. December-January promises to be wet and cold up there. Better try other places in the Americas. South Africa is a good idea, especially Cape Town, with lots to see and do. There are a number of "adventure" tour operators in South Africa, so hitching up with one of them might be a good idea. The costs are reasonable; but getting to South Africa could be expensive. That applies to South America, too.

Southeast Asia is an excellent idea; and good value. But travel in Australia and New Zealand is likely to strain your budget during a peak travel period. I've been to Australia recently; and will be back soon.

Don't rule out Europe, particularly the southern tier of countries. If you like museums and culture and food, and don't mind wearing some warm clothes, it could be fun ... and uncrowded. It will be cheaper, too. So give it some thought; and check it out. There is a lot of information on the Web. There are lots of good choices.
