Is travelling for everyone?

Not everyone who travels has to look for work! Most people stay home and work there. They save their money and when they have enough they can travel and just have fun!

Maybe when you work and travel you do get to stay longer in a particular country. But is it a real holiday or just temporary labor with no real career path? At home you can establish a career while working.

Nothing wrong with working at home while saving money first! And later just have fun on your holidays!

Just an old fart opinion!

We hate moving around every few days and tried settling somewhere with no joy. Living out of a suitcase is driving me mad and im just...not enjoying it like I thought I would. My question is ,do you think that maybe travelling isn't for everyone? We feel like failures if we go home...

Travelling isn't for everyone. There is no "shame" in discovering this and cutting it short. You gave it a try, and discovered something new about yourselves, which hey, is actually the point of travel for many people.

What I personally find extremely important in long term travel - the chief distinguishing feature from vacationing - is that I need to set a completely different pace, and look for completely different things. When vacationing, my priority is on going on all the hikes, seeing all the sights, etc. Really planning my days on how I can combine many things and get my full day's worth. But when I'm travelling for a long term, I'm conscious of being in it for the long haul. My pace needs to be sustainable, not just for a week or two, but for many months. So creature comforts and feeling 'at home' become most important. I'm lucky, in that I've discovered that as long as I have a quiet comfortable spot to retreat to with a book and a cup of tea, I can just keep on enduring endlessly. So I'll focus on finding a favorite spot in a park to sit down at with a book and people watch. I'll sample the cafes, or deliberately take off-days to recharge and spend them just sitting at the hostel's lounge with a cup of tea, etc. Meanwhile I'll get to know the place where I'm at much better than if I was just rushing through, and open myself up for serendipitous encounters and events.

I know this last thing is harder when you're together. You'll be focused more on each other than on what's happening around you. But it might pay to deliberately break out of that a bit.
