Hello,
Hello Ben - if it's possible, I'd try for another night in Hiroshima. The Peace Park and the museum there, along with the A-dome are at least half a day's exploration, if not a full day and the train to Miyajima Island to see the Itsukushima Shrine and then for a trek up Mt Misen amongst the deer is a great full day out. Where you take it from is hard to fathom - while in Tokyo a trip to Lake Ashi to see Mt Fuji is difficult to miss and Kinkaku-ji (the golden pavilion) at Kyoto is a must do too. You might want to think of extending your time in Japan if possible or even missing out one of the three cities you mention and re-visiting the country in the future.
Enjoy your planning!
Hi Ben,
I would like to share my plans about Japan.
I have been to Tokyo for 2 times, and will go to Tokyo again in this late November. Each time is about 6-7 days. Because of short time for travelling, so I will plan to travel the places in one region or in other regions near my chosen region. It takes short time to go to the places.
There are eight regions in Japan: Hokkaido, Tohoku,Kanto,Chubu,Kinki/Kansai,Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu.
There are a lot of attractions in each region.
Tokyo is in Kanto region, therefore my first and second plans was the places in Tokyo and around Tokyo in Kanto region such as Kamakura and Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture, nikko in Tochigi Prefecture.
The third plan in this november is in Tokyo and around Tokyo, this time I decide to travel in Tokyo and Chubu region that can take short times to get to the places, such as Karuizawa in Nagano prefecture, Echigo Yuzawa in Niigata Prefecture, Lake Kawaguchiko in Yamanashi Prefecture. (I hope this plan will be successful )
Hiroshima and Kyoto is in my Japan plan too.
Hiroshima in Chugoku Region And Kyoto in Kansai Region are far from Tokyo. There are a lot of interesting places in Chugoku and Kansai regions. Therefore, I will plan my whole trip in Kansai area and Chugoku area for my next trip (please come true).
Enjoy Your Travel .

thank you for the messages .. Quick question, do you think I could catch a train from Tokyo (Narita International) to Hiroshima in the same day?
I land in Tokyo at 8:45am and I would like to travel south straight to Hiroshima via the train.
Finally my original plan was;
1 night in Hiroshima
3 nights in Kyoto
3 nights in Tokyo
If you could change the number of days spent in each location what would you do with 7 days?
thanks so much,
Ben

....
says it looks fairly easy & if you haven't already you should look at getting a Japan rail pass before you leave.
Steve
I was thinking that.. I'm struggling to find a "readable" timetable for all trains.. Specially from specific points.. I.e. Tokyo-Hiroshima, Hiroshima-Kyoto...
Cheers
Ben
Maybe the will help ... he is usually good for all things train.
Steve
Awesome!.. Cheers Steve
