Hi all, I would like to rent a car in Tromso and Rome.
Are there any companies willing to rent to me if my driving licence has been held for less than 1 year? I possess a valid International Driving Permit.
I cannot see why they would refuse you a car. In Italy, make sure you get full insurance. Some crazy drivers there and many cars have dents in them.
Get a good map for most places, notably Norway. Tromso is in the far north and even in mid summer they can have lots of snow up there. Have you driven on snow and ice before?
What's your age? That's probably a lot more relevant than for how long you've had your driving license. Most rental companies don't rent to / or have very hefty surcharges (can easily double the rental cost) if you're not yet 25.
An international driving permit is in my experience a complete waste of money. No one ever asks for it, excepting (probably) only if your real driving license uses a non-Roman alphabet.
