I'm planning a trip to Northeast India next year; and one of the considerations is to cross the border between India and Myanmar. But health and safety might be issues in an area known for cross-border crime, including drug trafficking.
It's essential to follow the news and developments as you travel. A friend and I recently had to cancel plans to visit Srinagar, Kashmir, because of ongoing violence there (leading to more than five dozen deaths so far); curfews, school and business closures; and road blockages.
