Egypt

hi there,

it really depends on your budget and how you want to see egypt. the main tourist locations in egypt are greater cairo (cairo and giza), south sinai (sharm, dahab, & taba), the red sea (hurghada and marsa alam), upper egypt (luxor and aswan), the oasis (bahareya, siwa, dakhla, kharga, and farafra) the main activities are diving and water sports, desert excursions, and historical and religious site seeing.
each of these destinations has an international airport but the main airport is in cairo.
the weather is usually great in december and january but it can get a bit chilly at night in the north of egypt.
public buses between destinations are ok but they take too long as they stop at each check point on the way and that takes some time.
here's a little tip on planning your trip:
you can land in cairo, spend a couple of days site seeing (coptic cairo, the pyramids, etc) then fly to sharm in south sinai to dive, snorkel, or go on desert excursions. from sharm you can take a taxi to one of the beach camps on the taba-noweiba coast to totally chill on the beach (or you can skip this part as one week might be too tight). once you're back in sharm, you can take a plane to luxor where you can book a 3-day nile cruise from luxor to aswan. from aswan you can fly back to cairo and then home. 10 days in ideal for this trip plan.
cheers
