6 weeks in Mexico

Hi all,

Just be a bit careful when you go to Copper Canyon. The Chihuahua area is a bit dangerous with the drug stuff now.

Other than that, sounds like a great trip. Teotihuacan is phenomenal--and I would follow it up by visiting the archaeological museum back in Mexico City;--probably one of the two best in the world (the other being the British Museum in London). Visit Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City. For soccer, be sure to get to Azteca Stadium--the only stadium to have ever hosted two previous World Cup Finals (1970 and 1986). The Zona Rosa in Mexico City is the place to party in town.

Chichen Itza, Cancun and Merida are the only places you haven't mentioned that I would recommend (along with possibly going to Cuernavaca--just south of Mexico City). Along the pacific (driving) you can hit Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo/Ixtapa, Acapulco, and then Puerto Escondido before heading inland to Oaxaca. Obviously you can't get to all the places (like Cancun) in 6 weeks--and I think picking Guanajuato as a typical Mexican town (and a very pretty one I should add) while visiting the Pacific nightlife towns (instead of Cancun) is a good balance.

I've been to many of these places--and some places you haven't mentioned, but not to Guanajuato or Oaxaca--but I've seen and heard more about those towns (and San Luis Potosi) than any other places other than the major resorts--so I'm getting jealous as I write this.

Have a great trip.

Mexico is one of the famous city among travelers because it has a diverse range of attractions. One can enjoy and explore archaeological wonders, museums, natural parks, vibrant nightlife and
world-class beaches here.

If one is really fond of beaches then here is the list of some famous beaches of Mexico
Cabo San Lucas
Huatulco
Acapulco
Cancun
Puerto Vallarta
Zipolite
Mazunte
Tulum

Thanks for the comments.

Hey Calcruzer,

I've never been to this part of the world so it's good to know I'm on the right track.
So for Chihuahua the advice is to be careful, stay in at night, not to look like a millionaire ( which shouldn't be too hard!) that kind of thing?

I'd been wondering about Cancun but it looks like there is quite a lot to see so maybe leave for another trip, your suggestions for the Pacific coast look good.

Have you been to Las Pozas in Xilitla? Edward James sounds like an interesting character but I'm thinking the place might not be worth the trip, but then again it could be amazing?

Yep, your plan for Chihuahua is the best way to go.

Cancun as a second trip is probably best--I agree

And no, I haven't been to Las Pozas in Xilitia. San Luis Potosi (right next door) is a place I hope to get to--along with Guanajuato and probably Oaxaca at sometime in the future--but then, my wife is still partial to the beaches at this point in time--so I imagine that my trips to these places will have to wait--at least for now.

Enjoy your trip
