21 year old travelling alone for first time

Hello Im Daisy...

Hi Daisy.

My reply probably isn't going to be that useful but with regards to flights I think you can only book them up to 10 months in advance. I work in a hotel and you can only book rooms a year in advance.

Also you could wait until you get out there to book them? I would be surprised if there was a major difference. That way you are keeping your plans open. You might meet some amazing people who intend to carry on their travels to New Zealand or elsewhere. That way you don't have a definite deadline.

Either way flights for March 2014 should start appearing in about six weeks or so! Have an amazing time!

Hi Danielle thanks for help! I'm pretty eager to book a return (open return if possible ticket ) even if it costs a bit more! Gonna ring around a few travel agents and compare prices... Sta travel seems pretty expensive so hopefully find cheaper! Just getting a little worried about running out of money there so want to know I've got my flight sorted!xx

Hi Daisy

Money is the problem for most travellers! i've got back from a year travelling round Australia and i took $5000 with me and ran out of cash around 2 months in. However i prefered to have the flight option home (ie getting a return) because if you do run out of cash etc it is easier and cheaper to get home! but to be honest you getting speaking to people and no contacts in the first couple of months and i dont think you should worry to much bout getting a job just think carefully about it. i.e. - winter people go up north so if ur willing to stay down south (melbourne or sydney) then your more likely to get job.

hope that helps?

cheers

chelle x
