Hey,
These are well travelled places, and though you are going in the low season (possibility of heavy rains) there will be lots of fellow travellers about in all four countries if you want to join with someone.
Remember a visa, or visa letter for Vietnam (plus passport sized photos) and of course, Australia.
Take plenty of US dollars for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos where shops, etc accept them alongside the local currencies. A Vietnam visa at the airport is paid in dollars too.

I figured it will be easy enough to meet people out there, I just like having a few contacts before heading out especially if they have similar plans.
Do you know the policy on volunteers needing work visas? I've read and heard mixed reports and the official channels I've emailed haven't responded.
