Australia- Late December 2013

Hi

You may find it cheaper to pick up a flight to England, then fly to Australia (maybe Ryanair).

Australia is expensive and especially around the New Year period. Going say the third week in January, or being well away from Sydney over Xmas and New Year will save you a lot of money.

What kind of job? Many, many Brits and others go there that time of year so jobs can be in short supply if you leave it late.

Don't expect to earn lots of money there to finance your stay in Australia. As I said, it's expensive and many jobs like fruit picking will just keep you ticking over financially. You will of course need a good sum of money in some form or other to start you off.

Make sure you get a work visa. People who get a tourist visa and plan to work sometimes get sent home even before setting foot in Australia (Immigration miss little).

Australia is a BIG place. If you google:

australia jobs for travellers

That will give you some idea of what to look for and where to go. Otherwise you could end up arriving in one place and then finding a job a thousand miles away.

hello! i am going to be in sydney from september to jan, and once new year is over im going to try and get a campervan and start travelling around.. no plans where yet, i have only just booked my flight so i need to make some sort of plan! its ages away yet though! x

Hey guys!
I'm flying to Sydney on the 17th January 2014, will arrive on the 19th Jan. I've booked with a company called "ultimate oz" for the first 10 nights but after that I have no plans. I'm hoping to travel up the east coast at some point and get jobs along the way to help with money.
I'm pretty much open to ideas & as I'm travelling solo, would be good to meet people in the same boat

Heather
