Greece island hopping

So me and a friend have decided we want to go island hopping in greece for the holidays!

I've been 4 time to the Cyclades and love it! It's not as cheap as it used to be. I presume you're flying into Athens? You can buy a ferry ticket when you arrive at the port or in the city centre. Speed boat tickets are much more expensive than slow boat tickets. Tickets start at €10-€70 depending on speed of boat and where you're going. Accom for two people starts at about €30 for a basic twin/double room on the islands. €50 can get you a nice hotel, possibly even a little pool! Activitiies are pretty limited - partying, sun-bathing, watersports, small bit of history, etc.
I've been to Ios, Santorini, Naxos, Mykonos, Paros and Corfu so if you,re heading that way or have questions just let me know!

WHEN exactly you plan to go? Unless you plan to visit middle July and/or August or if you have specific requirements, more or less you can be very flexible, as per Ian's advice. I absolutely love islands such as Paros and Naxos, but Greece is not only about Cyclades. I suggest you read a lot about the different groups of islands and then make some choices. Furthermore you seem not to have an idea of what is to see and do, so why not to consider parts of mainland too? Everything an island has to offer plus even more is to be found on mainland... You do not mention how long you plan to be in Greece either...As a general guideline, do not plan to fit too much in. 3 nights/2 full days is an absolute minimum even on the tiniest island on my opinion.
