Sorry if my reply above was rude - the mods are welcome to remove it - but honesty Emily, your question makes no sense.
In Central/South America and the Caribbean there are about 50 countries, territories and protectorates with a landmass over 22 times the size of your home country. Can you understand now how your question is impossible to answer?
You have to be way more specific, starting with which countries are you planning to visit and what is your budget, etc. Even then the best answer is to simply start Googling...

Ah, you posted this thread in the wrong forum, then. You posted it in the "Central/South America & The Caribbean" forum, and so the replies so far have naturally assumed that this is what you referred to with "the above mentioned places".
A moderator for this forum might move the thread to the correct (Africa & Middle East) forum, but probably better if you start a new thread there yourself, giving a bit more information on what you want (so, "Cape Town", as well as some idea of budget and activities you're interested in doing (which might determine what part of Cape Town is best to base yourself in).
