Looking to travel, undecided on where.

Looking to travel around August time but I have no idea where would be best to go. I'm 19 and have been working for the past year so I have a reasonable amount of funds saved but I would still like to go somewhere where living is cheap so I could stay out there for as long as possible.
My dad worked in a kibbutz for three years so I've been tossing up the idea of going there but I still don't know if that would be the best choice.

How do you imagine that a stranger on the internet who doesn't know you could come up with better suggestions than you can yourself?

Surely you can generate some kind of a general idea regarding which cultures interest you (Latin America, SE Asia, Indian Subcontinent, African, etc.) and what is your travel style (party hardy, treks through nature, big cities, beaches) and how many other tourists you want to be with (loads of foreigners in hostels or off the beaten path as the only foreigner) in order to somewhat narrow down your initial choices.

Without having even general parameters in place then expecting strangers to throw out names willy nilly makes no sense to me.

At the very least give some clue as to your nationality and where you live.

Good luck.

Cheers,
Terry

Sorry for being so vague, first thread and I didn't really take into account how hard it was to answer.

I live in Scotland but I'm so tired of working behind a desk 5 days a week anywhere and everywhere sounds more appealing.

I'm basically just looking for somewhere where I can meet lots of other people and just generally have a good time, I stayed in a hostel in Amsterdam in December for two weeks and I loved it. I don't speak a second language so preferable somewhere where english is commonly spoken but more importantly a place which can offer any sort of work so I could support myself while out there.

Thanks for replying,

Aleksander

Hey

I've hear that many places in China are nice places to visit and if you should choose to stay there for a little while it is cheaper than almost all other countries.

However, even though the salaries would be less, it will most definitely go a very long way.

Think about it, don't be too hasty you're still young and I'm sure that you would like the money that you've worked so hard for to go towards an experience that you'll never forget.

Enjoy.

I think you're looking at this backwards.

If the most important thing is to extend your travel for as long as possible then forget about trying to work in an English speaking country and instead go a really inexpensive country that still has lots of English speaking backpackers like yourself.

SE Asia, the Indian Subcontinent and parts of Mexico, Central and South America all offer destinations that are crazy cheap, yet still have a tourist infrastructure that caters to English speaking budget backpackers.

One of the easiest suggestions would be SE Asia, starting with Thailand.

Terry

Hey,

It's good if you visit your Daddy.

But if you interested in traveling, go ahead to South East Asian.
