I have looked through the forums for a step by step process for linking my blog to Facebook and have been frustrated because when I go to he 'overview' page of my blog I do not see any 'link to Facebook' option. I saw another answer that said I had to link through Facebook but that was outdated also. Why can't there be a step by step for not so savvy people? Specifically I want to automatically post a link (on FB) to my new blog entries on TP when I publish.
I just checked the 'Overview' page and the link 'Add to Facebook' (with a Facebook logo) is still there. It is on the right side, just above the list of your blog entries.
Alternatively, just click on this link:
Go to Control Panel (white dropdown link at the top of each page) -> My Blogs.
You'll now see a "list" of all the blogs you run - only one in your case. Click on "Manage" next to it.
You'll now see a list of all the blog entries (posts) which you've written. In the right column there's a big green button "Add a new entry", and directly below that a link "Add to Facebook", which goes to a facebook "app" that (I suspect, not being a facebook user) you have to install / give access to your facebook account, and that will then take care of cross-publishing to facebook.
(From any other page in your blog management area, you can get here by clicking on the "manage" tab (in the right half of the page, just below the main navigation bar), and then on "entries".)
Again, I'm not a facebook user, so it's possible this app isn't currently working. I know I've heard the admins complain on many occasions how facebook changes the system out from under them all the time; it's not really a site which is pleasant to work with for other websites.
Thank you so much for your timely reply. I see that I have already set up the link to our FB account however it does not post to our account on FB. I have looked through the posts on our timeline and there is not a feed or post from Travellerspoint. I will attempt to cancel the link and redo it now as it does not seem to be working. Is there another way to check that it is actually working? Thank you
I just checked the TP link to our FB page and it works in that it takes me to our page but again I cannot find any evidence that it posts anything about our TP blog entries. I realize you are not a FB user (I'm new to it myself), is there a way to check if it's actually posting because I can't find it. Thanks again for helping me 'see' the obvious.
I just tested with a test blog of my own to make sure this still works and it did all the things expected, posting a story to my wall with a link to the blog entry.
So, a few things to check.
1. Be sure to look at your profile, rather than the news feed on Facebook. You probably are, so ignore this point if so.
2. The blog entries will only be posted to your wall as you publish them on Travellerspoint. You also need to leave the option ticked to "notify subscribers". They are not published retrospectively, so if you just linked up the two and haven't posted any new entries since doing that you will not see anything on your wall.
It's very hard to debug these issues sometimes, because there's a lot of things that could go wrong. Looking at your account though, it seems to be in order and should be posting updates to Brad's wall. Not sure if that's the user account you wanted to post to on FB.
Yes, thank you for your quick response. I'm thinking it may be a FB issue but feel I have the info now to figure it out. Good day.
UPDATE, okay so I figured out that all I needed to do was 'reauthorize' TP to post to FB. This is probably due to the fact that I don't publish entries often. I noticed when I went to draft a new entry there was a yellow box at the top of the page prompting me to reauthorize or cancel my FB account. I hope this helps:-)
