Hi all i plan on going to the place they call "down under" the end of this year on a working holiday visa and i just want to know what kind of jobs you guys and girls get while out there travelling? When i go to OZ i want to start in Melbourne and travel up east to Sydney where i will want to base myself for a few months and find some work to fund my travels for the rest of my visa.

Given that you speak (write) English well, you will have quite a few options other than the standard agricultural work! YAYY Most backpackers that I met on the East coast were either working in retail, food/bars, or call centers in urban areas, and agricultural work if in a rural area. The wages are substantially higher in Western Australia, and I'd argue that the beaches are better, too! In any case, seek.com.au is a good website to check out and see what you can find across the country.
A contrast to the US is that Australians ask for your immigration status (permanent resident, student visa, working holiday visa) straight away in the application process - and I've heard that many will reject you on the basis of being on a WHV. That is in contrast to the US - here they only ask if you are authorized to work in the States - but not for how long, etc - so I was rather surprised to see it! Just a head's up
