hi
im a 21 year old irish guy who is heading to oz in jan on my lonesome, and i am just wondering where is the best place to fly into? i have heard that if you fly into Sydney you might end up spending most of your money and end up just working to support your lifestyle? which is something that i really want to avoid as i want to do some travelling aswel. also just a rough guide on how much money i will need by jan, after i buy my ticket.
i flew into melbourne and then working up to cairns i've found it pretty exspensive so have put myself on quite a tight budget and im only staying in sydney for a few days before going up the gold coast for a couple of months but i found the flights cheaper to melbourne when i was looking ....i took 3500 in the end and that was for 3 months and also its paid for my internal flights
have fun planning

As far as flight costs go, the cheapest way would be on Air Asia from London to Perth - about 910GBP (Melbourne about 999GBP) - those prices are roundtrip
I'd recommend Perth as well, it's usually cheaper because it's closer. Sydney can be quite expensive simply because there is so much you can (and will want to) do.
hey thanks for the advice, just a couple more questions (sorry for the hassling!) how much money will i need to see me through untill i find a job and to keep me comfortable? i hope to get a job within a month of arriving, also is this achievable? finally, what would the weather be like in perth in jan/feb?? cheers
try Thailand, Malaysia and singapore.
i flew with quantas and got my flight for 780(GBP) and that was heathrow to melbourne and also include my internal flight cairnes to melbourne ... i booked with opodo doing their multi flight option save yourself a few hundred where possible!!!
