Hey people, im looking at booking flights to oz pretty soon. Whats best to do, book a one way flight out there or a return?? With the returns alot of sights the returns only go up to 10 months rather than 12 months and the one way flights seem cheaper?? Any information will be much appreciated.
Nick! I've just joined this forum, but I have the answer for you as I've been researching my flight for some time now!
Get a return! Even if it is a max of 10 months. From what I've gathered, the AUS immigration will want to see that you've either a) got a flight out of Aus (approx a yr) OR b) that you have funds to obtain a flight out in a year or so time. So where they're asking for x amount to be in your account (sufficent funds for the first part of your stay). They will want you to have an extra $1000 (approx) to fund the departure flight. Whereas if you book a return flight now, you'll pay roughly £150-200 more than a 'one way' and you can just change the departure date when you're there. (check with the airline or agent that you book through that the cost to change the flights is around £50 - 100.
Anyway, when are you looking to go? Are you going to work? Let me know if you do, could team up on the way?
Hope this helps anyway!
I'm looking on here for contacts for work in Aus, looking to do some fruit picking along the east coast for the months June/July/Aug and even September. But I saw your post and thought I'm gonna help!!
Thanks chap very helpful! Ive also Heard as part of the WHV you need £3500 anyway to take over there.
Have you booked your flights, if so where did you book them etc.
Im looking to go round June/July just trying to find reasonable flights, and i will be looking to work along the way so if you are the more contacts i have the better.
Whats your plans for when you get over there
Nick
